History[]

The 2S25 Sprut-SD is a Russian self-propelled tank destroyer that is amphibious and can also be airdropped. It's powerful main gun grants it to have as much firepower as an MBT. In the early 1990's, the Volgograd tractor plant created a new self-propelled tank destroyer based on a modified prototype light tank classified as Object 934. The plant was also the designer and manufacturer of the BMD-1, BMD-2, BMD-3, and latest BMD-4 airborne combat vehicles that are used by the Russian Air Assault Divisions. After the completion of modifying the chassis, it received the index "Object 952". The turret piece of the machinery was developed in the Yekaterinburg artillery plant number 9. In mid-2001, it was stated that the Volgograd tractor plant had been working on the 2S25 for about seven years. As far as it is known, production of the 2S25 self-propelled anti-tank gun is still being carried out at the Volgograd tractor plant. One of its first trials took place May 8, 2001 on the "Prudboy" tank firing range located North Caucasian military district for the representatives of the power ministries of Russia and foreign military and diplomatic corps from fourteen other countries of Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and South America. The Sprut-SD is based on the chassis of the BMD-3, and its most noticeable difference are the new turret, gun, and fire control systems, as well as the addition of two wheels in each side of the vehicle. It possesses hydropneumatic suspension, which provides both smoothness while driving and dampens the recoil of the main gun. It features a 510 horsepower engine, which allows it to reach speeds of 71 km/h on even terrain, and up to 40-50 km/h off-road. Its armor consists of welded aluminum with a composite skin to keep the weight low.

In-game[]

The Sprut-SD focuses mainly on firepower, having a maxed damage of 560 coupled with a 2.4 second reload time. Its maxed speed is very competitive, reaching 59.8, which makes it a great flag runner. That is, however, in case it doesn't get hit for it has only 55 armor. Although, its health pool is an excellent asset for its level, reaching 1001. Though the agility isn't remarkable, it is still a great strategy to circle enemies while dealing great damage to them so that they cannot deal damage back. As the damage is high, weak-armored or low-health vehicles are quite good targets. Using the speed to circle around the opponent, and making it more difficult for the enemy to hit this thinly armored vehicle.

Pros and Cons[]

Pros:[]

  • High health pool
  • Very powerful gun, amazing DPM
  • Excellent penetration values, respectable accuracy
  • Very fast speed
  • Floatation kit preinstalled

Cons:[]

  • Absolutely terrible armor with no spaced armor either, very vulnerable to high explosive
  • Absymal gun depression, some of the worst in the game
  • Agility is lacking, so speed can't be taken advantage of to its fullest extent
  • Mediocre accuracy
